What kind of Twitter name should you choose?

Ideally your twitter name will be your screen-name on all of the social outlets you use, and possibly your website address as well.  This makes it easy to find you – if someone knows your twitter handle, they will probably be able to find you on Facebook and youtube as well.

For example, you’re here at offthewallsocial.com.  You can also find me at facebook.com/offthewallsocialyoutube.com/offthewallsocial or by e-mail at offthewall@offthewallsocial.com.  Twitter only allowed me 15 characters and “offthewallsocia” looks kinda weird to me, so I chose OffTheWallSM (‘S’ for social, ‘M’ for media).  You can see that least “offthewall” is consistent across all my profiles and web presence.

A social media manager can ensure that your desired username is available across all social media profiles, and make sure to get them all (or as many of them as you intend to use) registered for you.  They can also advise on good possibilities for Twitter names/usernames for your specific business.  Having a Twittername that accurately reflects you or your business is an important first impression for your Twitter followers.
